2009 6th Annual Scarecrow Cruise & Car Show Results!

Friday & Saturday October 16-17, 2009 • Madison , Mississippi

Oh what a weekend it was . . . A two-day event, October 16-17, with nice cool weather that drew car enthusiasts and their priceless art on wheels from all parts of Mississippi and surrounding states. With more than 300 classic vehicles participating in the 6th Annual Scarecrow Cruise & Car Show this event has grown to be the largest of its kind in Central Mississippi!

Friday’s events started off with the Cruisen-4-Cash event as more than 50 classic vehicles rumbled along some of the most scenic countryside in Madison County stopping at participating businesses hoping to win $500 in cash prizes as well as lots of door prizes. Later that evening, many gathered at the Madison Square Center to listen to the rock & roll band the Chill.

Saturday morning started off early at 8:00am with absolutely picture perfect weather as 84 classic cars and trucks met at beautiful Reunion Golf Course to participate in the annual Scarecrow Cruise Classic Car Caravan. It was quite a site to behold as Madison police officers with their lights flashing led the classic car caravan down Hwy 463 for the 15 minute scenic drive to downtown Madison. What a rush it was as Reunion residents sat in their front yards as the caravan slowly made their way through the neighborhood. Police officers stopped traffic at the intersections while motorists honked their horns and waved as the caravan progressed toward their destination in Madison. Some local residents that were unaware of the planned classic car invasion of Madison must have thought that they were in a time warp. To see a 5 minute film clip of the Classic Car Caravan leaving Reunion Golf Course visit the Mississippi Classic Cruisers web site.

More than 6,000 spectators joined in the fun as they stopped by downtown Madison to look at the old cars, take pictures, talk to the owners and listen to oldies music from the 50’s and 60’s played by local radio personalities from Q105 and local rock & roll band Memory Lane. The day ended as more than 150 awards were given out to the favorite vehicles in various classes. If you remember James Dean, Elvis Presley, Happy Days, Al’s Diner, American Graffiti, Rock & Roll and Disco, the 6th Annual Scarecrow Cruise & Car Show was the place to be.
